Crazy Horse
On May 2011, the Crazy Horse celebrated its 60th anniversary ; in May 1951, Alain Bernardin opened the original venue and developed a unique signature style through unique shows that combined artistic avant-garde, femininity and a dose of humor; In addition to the 60th Anniversary of the historical cabaret in Paris, in 2011 the company will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of its second permanent cabaret in Las Vegas and the launch of its first international touring production. When the world famous "Crazy Horse" cabaret show found a new home in the UK SXS were approached to provide UK-side production support.
While Crazy Horse utilises a conventional proscenium arch stage, its unique nature meant conventional theatres were not an option. Crazy Horse provides a complete evening of entertainment with champagne, food and cabaret performance.

The Parisian burlesque show made its London debut in May and ran for a month. In that time it entertained a host of celebrities including Ronnie Wood, Kings of Leon stars Jared and Caleb Followill, Graham Norton, models Edie Campbell, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Jamie Dornan and many more.
SXS' Special Projects team built a complete theatre stage production in a space with no existing infrastructure. The space had no rigging, no three-phase power, no stage and no dressing room.
"The diverse range of solutions required for this project made this a particularly interesting and challenging project - perfect for our team! We love this kind of stuff." Says Head of Special Project's Johnny Palmer.
The complex stage design had to be custom built in such a way that accommodated millimetre perfect rigging and lighting so as to accommodate the theatrical and visual needs of the show.
Together with Johnny Palmer of SXS we have studied the reduction of the Crazy Horse stage system to small venues. I use to compare the Crazy Horse stage to a watch, because of the density of theatrical devices. The result is a clean and effective cameo dance stage which allows perfect performances with fewer dancers.” - Maurizio
With a 2-week lead time until opening night the SXS team designed, installed
and operated:
- permanent installation of three-phase power
- a custom
stage with inset lighting
- a complex multi-layered ground supported mother
grid for flying multiple sets and scenery pieces, designed precisely to fit n
a tight space
- construction of stud walling to allow discreet access to stage
for the girls
- construction of an opulent dressing room with mirror and
specialist make-up lighting

"It was an honour to work with the talented Parisians and we look
