Set Builder Job Title:

Set Builder

Description:

If you have skills in carpentry, set design, or the building trade and are looking for a role in the events industry, then this could be the role for you!

We are looking for a Set builder to join our team in our Bristol Warehouse. The role is very much in two halves; one half will include manufacturing set in the warehouse and the other half will be onsite building and striking the kit.

You will be making set for our events which can range from simple stage flats and steps though to bespoke and intricate one off designs from briefs. You will be briefed by our Project Handlers who will show you their drawings, discuss materials and work with you on getting the right approach.

In addition SXS has extensive property holdings which require constant maintenance.  As such there is often a need to make furniture for the office, re-point bricks and do other repairs.

The role requires a lot of self-discipline as deadlines can be tight so we need someone who can think and act fast on their feet to keep the flow of production going.

The onsite aspect of your role will include travel around the UK to the events (and sometimes overseas) with the rest of the SXS team to set up the work you create alongside assisting the wider SXS team.

Creating a great work environment is important to everyone at the company.   We want SXS to be a place where you can fulfill your potential and grow with the company.   Also we want to make sure that working at SXS creates a healthy balance with other parts of your life.   With this in mind we have done the following

  • secure bike storage at work
  • onsite showers
  • all staff have their own lockers
  • there is a high degree of flexibility about using company equipment and resources for personal projects
  • we have a flexitime program
  • we are flexible on taking additional unpaid holiday to suit your personal needs and the workload of the company
  • we operate the "SXS Good Program" - take a look on our social media channels to learn more

Please email recruitment@sxsevents.co.uk with you CV if you wish to apply.

Pre-Requisites:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • an interest in events
  • Carpentry skills or a background in this industry
  • industry experience will help (but not mandatory)
  • hands on approach to learning
  • working as a team and independently
The Kit:

We have a dedicated 5000 square foot workshop. It is well equipped with tooling from top brands such as Festool and Makita. We aim to always have the right tool to achieve the best quality and efficiency from all work.

We have overhead retractable power and air line.  There is also a good air filtration system and extraction.

The Location:

Bristol

Basis of the Role:

Full-time, Bristol-based.

Pay:

Competitive and good.   Factors such as existing qualifications, how much overtime you want, experience and additional skills are all factors.  We find that the salaries and overall package we offer tend to be a lot better than comparable roles in the area.  This is due to much of our revenue coming from the higher-price London market.

Progression:

Endless.   SXS is a multi-million-pound fast-growth business.   Although mid-sized in the UK event market place, SXS is making waves at the top end of the event production industry.   This means that there are constant iopportunities to get involved in a wide range of projects and roles.

Please submit your CV and Covering Letter to recruitment@sxsevents.co.uk
